
“A big concern.” This is how the bishops of France reacted to a proposed law aimed at eliminating the secrecy of confession, in cases of violence against minors. Coming from the parliamentary commission of inquiry opened after the Bétharram affair, the text examined by the deputies this Monday, June 1, aims to fight against violence in schools. The bill provides that ministers of religion are now obliged to denounce such facts, even if they become aware of them in the exercise of their functions.
