
Turkish cargo ship attacked by Russian drone
The Ukrainian navy said on Friday, May 29, that a Russian drone “attacked” a Turkish cargo ship in the Black Sea, causing a fire that injured two crew members.
“At night, the enemy used a drone to attack the cargo ship ANT, which was sailing from one of the ports of the Odessa region to Turkey with cargo on board,” the navy wrote on Telegram. “Two injured crew members were quickly evacuated by Navy boats of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and transported to a medical center,” she added.
Romania denounces “a serious escalation”
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced “a serious and irresponsible escalation” by Russia, after the fall of a Russian drone on a building which left two people lightly injured in a town in eastern Romania near the border with Ukraine.
“This incident constitutes a serious and irresponsible escalation on the part of the Russian Federation,” the ministry wrote in a statement. “Romania informed its allies and the NATO Secretary General of the situation and requested that measures be taken to accelerate the transfer of means to combat drones to Romania,” he added.
Russian drone strikes in Romania
The Defense Ministry of Romania, a NATO member country, said that a Russian drone hit a residential building on its territory, in the town of Galati, near the border with Ukraine.
“On the night of May 28-29, the Russian Federation resumed drone attacks against civilian targets and infrastructure in Ukraine, near the river border with Romania. One of these drones entered Romanian airspace, was tracked by radar to the southern part of the city of Galati, and then crashed on the roof of an apartment building, causing a fire upon impact,” the ministry wrote in a statement.
