The steamy ice hockey series Off Campus (2026– ) is an outright hit in the Netherlands, and with it many viewers are also introduced to the 19-year-old leading actress Ella Bright. Her character Hannah gets in Off Campus a relationship with Garrett, who is played by an actor nine years his senior. According to Bright, we don’t have to worry about this age difference.
Conscious decision
In the Not Skinny But Not Fatpodcast, Bright addresses internet reactions from people concerned about the age difference between her and Belmont Cameli. Cameli is 28 years old and was born almost nine years after his co-star. In the series, Hannah’s pretended ‘fake relationship’ with Garrett, the star of the ice hockey team, grows into something much more serious.
In the interview, Bright indicates that she understands the concerns of some viewers, but that she has never felt so much younger:
I received more than enough information, especially during the ‘chemistry reads’, to understand what this role required of me. I never doubted whether I wanted this (…) I couldn’t have felt more comfortable on set than with this cast and crew

Bright adds that careful consideration was given to showing partial nudity for her character and full nudity for Allie (Mika Abdalla), because she exudes more body confidence and sex is important to her. “This shows the difference between these two characters,” she said.

The popularity of Off Campus is now such that only two series ever scored better with their debut season. In the first 12 days after its release, season 1 was streamed by 36 million viewers, leaving the series alone Fallout (2024– ) in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022– ) to tolerate.
