The series is based on Moore’s bestseller of the same name, written in 2024, and tells the mysterious story of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar who disappears without a trace from a summer camp in the Adirondacks in 1975. The case is highly charged because her older brother also disappeared years earlier and was never found. Condon plays the role of Alice Van Laar, the mother of the missing girl, who has been scarred by grief and trauma for years.
