The series came this week The Boys (2019–2026) comes to a definitive end after years of viewing pleasure. The series is known as a politically and satirically charged story. In addition, creator Eric Kripke has never hidden that Homelander is partly intended as a parody of Donald Trump and authoritarian politicians in general. The latter also caused Elon Musk to get involved this week. He called the series finale on X “sad” and even “fake and gay”, among other things.
Kripke positively surprised
After the final of The Boys which was published last Wednesday, there was a lot of criticism from conservative quarters. They stated that Homelander was humiliated on purpose in the last episode. Some viewers saw it as a kind of anti-Trump message or a humiliation fantasy. Musk responded by calling the finale sad and later fake and gay. Afterwards, Musk admitted that he doesn’t watch the series at all. Kripke, in turn, responded remarkably lightly to Musk’s criticism. On X the creator of joked The Boys that he would “never get a better review”. In doing so, he seemed to emphasize that the satire of the series had achieved exactly the desired effect.
Musk continues to respond
The riot was further fueled by the appearance of a new character in the finale who seemed strongly inspired by Musk himself. The character, called The Disruptor, talked about space travel and birth rates and wore striking black clothing that immediately reminded viewers of Musk. When Kripke was later asked if the character was actually based on Musk, he replied that the series needed one last satirical target. Meanwhile, Musk is taking his turnThe Boys fully in the spotlight.
