9:41 a.m. – A resumption of war is unlikely, assures Iran
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards considered a resumption of war with the United States unlikely, against a backdrop of diplomatic negotiations, while saying they were ready to face a new attack.
“The likelihood of war is low due to the weakness of the enemy,” Mohammad Akbarzadeh, a senior official in the Guardian naval forces, was quoted as saying by the Tasnim news agency. But “the armed forces are on alert, their magazines full,” he added, vowing to “transform the area” going from the east to the west of the Gulf into “a cemetery for the aggressors.”
7:42 a.m. – New head of Hamas’ military wing killed
Israel announced that it had killed the new leader of the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas targeted the day before by a strike in Gaza, despite the ceasefire supposed to have been in force since October.
“The commander of the armed wing of the Hamas terrorist organization in Gaza was eliminated yesterday,” Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz wrote in a message on the social network X.
Israel Katz and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Tuesday that the Israeli army had carried out during the day “a strike in Gaza targeting Mohammed Odeh”, the new leader of the Ezzdine Al-qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas.
Mohammed Odeh has long headed the intelligence services of the Ezzedine Al-Qassam brigades, the military wing of Hamas. His appointment as head of the brigades to succeed al-Haddad was never announced or confirmed by the Palestinian Islamist movement.
