In this year 1943, Emma (Lila Gueneau), aged 15, has some certainties and just as many hopes. She dreams of winning the virtue prize awarded each year in her Protestant village in the Swiss Jura to finance nursing studies. The support of the pastor (Grégoire Colin) and his wife (Aurélia Petit), for whom she works as a maid, should counterbalance the shame that taints her: her mother left her father, her two younger sisters and her to go live in town with her lover. But the stay of two journalists at the pastor’s home will profoundly change her trajectory: raped by one of them, she becomes pregnant.
