A Secret Service agent responsible for protecting US Vice President JD Vance is suspected of passing information to a media outlet about his movements.
The individual was placed on leave while an internal investigation was conducted, according to a source familiar with the matter who spoke to CNN. However, it is not clear whether administrative sanctions or criminal proceedings could be initiated.
This employee allegedly fueled a report on MS Now about members of JD Vance’s security team. They said they were dismayed by the “burden” that the vice president’s personal travel planning imposed on his team.
The media had notably mentioned a planned trip by JD Vance, a Marine helicopter flight with his son for a golf lesson, which would ultimately have been canceled.
The CNN source clarified that these details drew the ire of the Secret Service, the FBI and the White House.
