It is in Mongbwalu, in the heart of the Ituri equatorial forest, in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), that the current Ebola epidemic could have originated. To date, at least 2,073 confirmed cases and 796 deaths have been reported in the country since mid-May. Figures most likely underestimated.
