Donald Trump’s latest attempts to sow doubt about the electoral process in the United States greatly worry American politics specialist Romuald Sciora.

In an interview with LCN, the director of the United States Political and Geostrategic Observatory of IRIS argues that even if he criticizes democratic failings, the American president has himself questioned this process on numerous occasions.

“As a United States citizen living here, I am sincerely very concerned. Let’s not forget one thing when Trump is the only person to have attempted a serious coup d’état in American history on January 6, 2021,” he said.

“It didn’t succeed simply because the Republican Party at the time didn’t follow it and the vice president was named Mike Penn,” he added. Today things are very different. »

Mr. Sciora fears that Mr. Trump is seeking to find blame for his unverified allegations.

“If there is truly spoliation of the election, if there has been embezzlement, there are therefore those to blame. And Trump was very clear yesterday that he now wanted to investigate and punish these culprits,” mentioned the specialist in American politics.

“Are we going to see arrests of the highest level Democrats? he asked. Will President Joe Biden be worried? »

The American president has rarely been clearer about his opposition to traditional media.

“We have gone one step further in terms of freedom of expression and the constant attacks on democracy and the media. Donald Trump clearly demanded that major news channels, including CNN, have their licenses revoked,” he noted.

“Imagine how far we have come today in the United States,” he added. A president who demands that the licenses of the major news channels be withdrawn. »
