In a press release published on its website Monday July 13, the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X announced that it had filed a preliminary appeal with the dicastery for the doctrine of the faith against the decree published on July 2. In it, the Holy See took note of the schism and therefore of the excommunication of six bishops who had participated the day before in the episcopal ordination mass without pontifical mandate, but also of the Lefebvrist priests and of all the lay people who “formally adhere” to the SSPX.
