Screened on the last day of competition at the Cannes Film Festival, Valeska Grisebach’s film did not benefit from the media attention it deserved although it was awarded the prestigious Jury Prize during the winners of this 79th edition. Perhaps because he stood out too much from the rest of the competitors to easily fit into a reading grid which tends to compare and classify works in relation to each other. Or that its geography, the borders of Eastern Europe, between Bulgaria and Türkiye, disconcerted the viewer with its singular strangeness.
