In Venezuela, the authorities are now reporting 4,490 dead and 16,740 injured, a toll far higher than the estimates announced after the June 24 earthquake. These figures were communicated by the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodriguez, responsible for monitoring emergency operations and also brother of interim President Delcy Rodriguez, within the transitional government supported by the United States.
