Kuwait’s army said it was fighting “hostile air targets” after Iran said it had targeted two air bases in the emirate in response to US bombings.
“The armed forces are currently combating hostile air targets in Kuwaiti airspace,” said the country’s general staff, cited by the official Kuna agency.
6:11 a.m. – Guardians say they have struck US bases
The Revolutionary Guards, Tehran’s ideological army, claimed to have struck American bases in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait, according to the official Irna agency, the United States having attacked “dozens of targets” in Iran.
In successive messages citing Guardian press releases, IRNA reports attacks against the Prince Hassan air base in Jordan, the American drone command center in Bahrain, as well as the bases of Ali al-Salem and Ahmad al-Jaber in Kuwait.
6:07 a.m. – US military says it has targeted “dozens of targets”
The US military said it had concluded a series of strikes against “dozens of targets” in Iran for the second day in a row, saying it was ready to “ensure that freedom of navigation remains assured” in the Strait of Hormuz.
US forces “targeted Iranian air defense systems, coastal radars, missile and drone capabilities, and small craft,” US Middle East Command (Centcom) wrote on X.
6:04 a.m. – Air warning sirens sounded in Bahrain
Air warning sirens sounded at dawn in Bahrain, according to the interior ministry, as the United States continues its strikes against neighboring Iran.
“The siren sounded. Citizens and residents are urged to remain calm and go to the nearest safe place,” the ministry wrote on X.
6:01 a.m. – One dead, four injured in southwest Iran
One person was killed and four injured this morning in an American bombardment on the town of Mahshahr, in southwest Iran, according to a local official cited by the official IRNA agency.
“As a result of the attack by the American enemy on Monday morning, which hit the agricultural water pumping station in the town of Mahshahr, one person was martyred and four others were injured,” Deputy Governor for Security of Khuzestan Province (southwest), Valiullah Hayati, told IRNA.
