Since the first heatwaves of 2026, Loïc Michel has regularly traveled the streets of Lyon to meet people suffering from unsuitable housing. “When you don’t have a shutter, when you can’t get a draft, when you’re blown up due south, life just becomes untenable,” explains this employee of Tenants Ensemble. Used to going door to door to help tenants improve their living conditions by forming unions, this federation realized the scale of the problem as heatwaves became more intense and longer.
