The Television Academy has announced the nominations for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards. Mainly The Pitt (2025– ) in Hacks (2021–2026) are the big standouts.
The last time
Hacks received no fewer than 24 nominations in its fifth and final season, the most for a comedy series ever. The previous record was 23 nominations The Bear (2022–2026) in 2024 and was matched last year by The Studio (2025– ). Also the last seasons of Stranger Things (2016–2025) in Euphoria (2019–2026) received several nominations. But true Stranger Things achieved her 7 nominations in technical categories alone, she had to Euphoria to miss out on the most important category, best drama series. The acting performances of Zendaya and Colman Domingo were rewarded with a nomination.
The Pitt the big contender
The second season of The Pitt is the show with the most nominations with 25 nominations. Partly due to many nominations for the HBO series, HBO Max is the platform with the most nominations. Netflix is closely following HBO Max. The platform is a standout Beef (2023– ), the second season achieved 16 nominations.
Newcomers are doing it for Apple TV
But the rise of Apple TV is also noticeable. The newcomers in particular are doing well for Apple TV; Widow’s Bay (2026– ) achieved 19 nominations and science fiction series To many (2025– ) received 18 nominations.
