Germany has experienced several attacks in schools and markets in recent years that have traumatized the country. The latest in a school took place in September 2025, when a 17-year-old Kosovar seriously injured a 45-year-old teacher by stabbing her in a vocational training establishment in Essen.
The suspect, with “jihadist” motivations according to the prosecution, had also injured a man chosen at random in the street and the janitor of a primary school.
