Several buildings in downtown New York, United States, were evacuated Tuesday morning due to a building under renovation deemed at risk of collapsing.
Two support beams of the 37-story building in Manhattan began to twist, forcing authorities to take significant precautions, according to NBC New York.
The first calls were made to 911 around 8 a.m., reporting bricks falling from the building on 42nd Street, between Second and Third Avenues.
No injuries have been reported at this time, according to the New York Police Department.
At least nine nearby buildings were evacuated as a preventative measure.
A large perimeter was erected and New Yorkers were asked to avoid the area.
The building has not moved since midday, which allowed authorities to enter the building in the afternoon to carry out tests and assess damage to the structure.
The building in question, which has already housed offices for the Pfizer company, is being transformed into a residential building.
