
Emmy-winning actress Julia Garner will play the lead role of Guilty Creaturesa new thriller series from Apple TV+. The series is based on the acclaimed true-crime book Guilty Creatures: Sex, God, and Murder in Tallahassee, Florida by Mikita Brottman. It is directed by Craig Gillespie, who recently directed the DC film Supergirl (2026) made. The screenplay was written by Sarah DeLappe (Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022))
True crime story
Guilty Creatures is set in the Florida Panhandle and is based on a true story. The series follows a passionate but forbidden relationship between two young, deeply religious lovers who become embroiled in a murder case. The thriller examines not only the crime itself, but also the psychological consequences of their actions. For eighteen years, the two live with the secret that they are murderers, while guilt, faith and the complex dynamics of their relationship begin to weigh more and more heavily on them.
Impressive course
Garner became one of the most sought-after actresses of the moment thanks to her award-winning role in Ozark (2017–2022). She will soon be seen in the Netflix miniseries The Altruists alongside Anthony Boyle. She will also return in a new season of The Studio (2025– ). Last year, Garner also appeared in two major film productions: The Fantastic Four – First Steps (2025) and the Oscar-nominated horror thriller Weapons (2025).
