
Ten years after Amoris laetitia, Leo XIV convened neither a new synod on the family, nor a revision of Francis’ exhortation. The meeting planned at the Vatican from October 7 to 14, already announced by the Pope on March 19, 2026, will bring together the presidents of the episcopal conferences and the leaders of the Eastern Catholic Churches. Its preparatory document, published this Monday, July 6, gives its content: it is not a question of reopening the controversies of 2016, but of discerning, from the experience of local Churches, what remains to be accomplished.
