Israeli occupation in Lebanon prevents army deployment
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun estimated on Monday July 6 that the maintenance of Israeli troops in the south of the country was preventing the Lebanese army from deploying there, the two countries preparing to implement a framework agreement which notably provides for a gradual Israeli withdrawal.
Joseph Aoun stressed “the importance of putting pressure on Israel to withdraw from the areas it occupies in the South”, since “maintaining (this) occupation undermines the legitimacy of the State, prevents the deployment of the army and (…) a just and lasting peace”, according to a press release from the presidency.

Last tribute to Ali Khamenei
The funeral procession carrying the coffin of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei began this morning crossing the streets of Tehran for a final public tribute which is expected to last around ten hours, according to images from Iranian state television.
“We ask the population to go peacefully to Azadi Square,” where the procession is expected, declared General Hassan Hassanzadeh, while the authorities fear deadly stampedes like in 1989 during the funeral of Ayatollah Rouhollah Khomeini, Khamenei’s predecessor.
