
On television or on news sites, Iran’s neighboring countries did not miss anything of the great prayer this Sunday, July 5, over the coffin of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. A Shiite ceremony led by prominent Shiite cleric Ja’far Sobhani, a 97-year-old academic who teaches in seminaries in the holy city of Qom. Images of a fervent crowd, punctuated by Iranian flags and red flags, a sign of justice and revenge, went around the world.
