
We already knew about per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, better known by the acronym PFAS, present almost everywhere in water and soil. This is further confirmed by a study published this Friday July 3 by the Surfrider association. Traces of these “eternal pollutants” were spotted in each of the 107 water samples taken between June and July in bathing areas that had previously been little studied. A few concern lakes or rivers, but the vast majority – 80 samples – come from the coastal beaches of France, Guadeloupe and Reunion.
