An increase of more than 2,000 deaths was recorded during the week of June 22, the peak of the exceptional June heatwave, announced Friday July 3 the Minister of Health, Stéphanie Rist, warning that this figure was necessarily incomplete.
“The death figure for the week of June 22 to 28, compared to the week before, (…) is of the order of 2,025 additional deaths,” declared Ms. Rist, on TF1, recalling nevertheless that these data only concerned a little more than half of all death certificates.
