Ecuador – Germany (2-1): Ecuador, winner of Germany (2-1), qualified for the round of 16 and is guaranteed to finish among the best thirds.
Trailing 1-0 from the second minute, the Ecuadorians overthrew the Mannschaft, already qualified and assured of first place, and are certain to be among the eight best third-placed teams with four points. With one point, Curaçao (4th) is eliminated.
Curaçao – Ivory Coast (2-0): Ivory Coast qualified for the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, thanks to its victory against Curaçao (2-0).
Winners thanks to a double from Nicolas Pépé (7th, 64th), the Ivorians finish in second place in group E and will face France or Norway for a place in the eighth. This is the Elephants’ first qualification for a World Cup knockout stage.
Tunisia – Netherlands (3-1): The Netherlands, winners of Tunisia (3-1) in Kansas City, sealed their first place in Group F and will therefore face Morocco on Monday in Monterrey, for what will be one of the shocks of the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup.
The Dutch took cover with goals from Ellyes Skhiri against his camp (3rd), Brian Brobbey (7th) and Jan Paul van Hecke (62nd). Hazem Mastouri (54th) saved the honor for Hervé Renard’s Tunisians, already eliminated before this meeting, who finished with 0 points and a goal difference of -10.
Japan – Sweden (1-1): Japan held off Sweden (1-1) in Arlington and finished Group F undefeated in second place, with a shock against Vinicius’ Brazil in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup in sight.
Sweden, led after a goal from Daizen Maeda (56th), equalized thanks to Anthony Elanga (62nd), and also progressed to the next round by virtue of their third place acquired at the end of a contrasting group phase (a victory, a defeat, a draw).
Turkey – United States (3-2): This match had no sporting stakes since the United States was guaranteed to finish first in Group D and Turkey knew it was last even before kickoff.
However, under the eyes of a plethora of Hollywood stars, including Brad Pitt and Edward Norton reconstituting the duo from the film “Fight Club”, the two teams went blow for blow. And the Turks finally saved the honor at the end of added time when Galatasaray central defender Kaan Ayhan threw himself to tackle a cross in the American goal and give his team the victory (3-2). Team USA will face Bosnia-Herzegovina in the round of 16 on Wednesday in Santa Clara.
Paraguay – Australia (0-0): Australia won its ticket to the round of 16 of the World Cup by preserving its second place in Group D thanks to a draw (0-0) against Paraguay during a meeting with very few opportunities in San Francisco.
With four points, but a goal difference of -2, the Paraguayans will have to wait to find out if they can qualify for the title of best third. In the other match of the group, the Turks, already eliminated after two defeats, saved the honor by snatching victory at the very end of the match (3-2) in Los Angeles against the United States, already assured of facing Bosnia-Herzegovina in the round of 16.
