
It has become one of the most feared pathologies of the 21st century, at least in Western countries. According to a survey conducted by Ifop in 2021 for the Médéric-Alzheimer Foundation, 74% of French people are “afraid” of Alzheimer’s, including 24% “very afraid” (1). In 2001, according to the same polling institute, this proportion was significantly lower: 42% of respondents then admitted their fear of this degeneration of neurons.
