
The Support Group for Islam and Muslims (Jnim, Arabic acronym, Editor’s note), the Sahel branch of Al-Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the attack carried out on Thursday June 18 at dawn against the Niamey airport in Niger, having killed eleven soldiers and two civilians and left four injured, according to the Nigerien authorities. “On the enemy side, 22 attackers were neutralized (killed, Editor’s note) and around twenty suspects arrested,” declared the Ministry of Defense in a press release read on national television.
