
Reforms in favor of the market economy unanimously adopted in the Cuban National Assembly. The image, broadcast by state television on Thursday June 18, may be surprising. The approximately 400 deputies had been presented, just before by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, with 176 reform proposals aimed at further liberalizing the island’s economy, in particular opening more sectors to private investment, attracting more capital from Cubans abroad and reducing the involvement of the State.
