Will Spain witness the fall of an icon? The former head of the Spanish socialist government (2004-2011), José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, is the target of two investigations for alleged tax fraud and smuggling, after the discovery of jewelry worth 1.3 million euros in a safe at his office. He is accused of not being able to “justify payment of customs duties, special taxes or taxes associated with the importation” of this jewelry.
