
Strap on your irons again, because na Finding Her Edge (2026– ), Netflix is once again releasing a romantic series about a figure skater with big ambitions. Icebreaker is based on a children’s novel that did a great job on the bestseller list in the US New York Timesand also conquered Booktok.
Sharp skate
The story of Hannah Grace introduces us to Anastasia Allen, a speed skater whose aim in her competition preparations is no lower than Olympic gold. Everything changes when she meets Nate Hawkins, an ice hockey player who also wants to become a professional. There is clearly an attraction between the two, but can it match the couple’s ambitions?
Popularity Award
The first Icebreakernovel by Grace is part of a series of three, the so-called Maple Hill-books. Anastasia’s story remained on the list for no less than seventy weeks New York Times to stand; more than five million copies were sold worldwide.
From book to screen
The series’ showrunner will be Amanda Lasher, who previously worked on the original Gossip Girl (2007–2012). Jade Bartlett, a screenwriter of, among others Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), will co-write the episodes with Lasher. “Hannah [Grace, red.] has created the kind of world you really want to step into, [en] we look forward to bringing that world to the screen,” says the latter.
It is not yet known when Icebreaker will appear and who will play the leading roles.
