Marvel Studios has officially announced during San Diego Comic-con 2026 Black Panther 3 (2028) announced. The cinema film is expected in 2028 and takes a surprising new direction. Not Shuri, but T’Challa’s adult son becomes the new Black Panther.
Boseman’s legacy
The biggest reveal during the panel was the casting of David Jonsson. He plays the adult version of T’Challa’s son at the end of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) was introduced as a young child. In any case, this means that the name T’Challa will return to the franchise. This is special because after the death of actor Chadwick Boseman who was in Black Panther (2018) was shown as T’Challa, the second film was completely rewritten. All this to prevent another actor from having to take over his role. For that reason, Shuri took over the role of Black Panther at the time.
Denzel Washington
Letitia Wright will reprise her role as Shuri and Winston Duke will return as M’Baku. Director Ryan Coogler is once again in control and, together with Kevin Feige, announced that the film will be shot on 70mm. Although little about the story is revealed, the production appears to be closely tied to the events of Avengers: Secret Wars (2027), the film that will be released a year earlier. In addition, it has been expected for some time that Denzel Washington will play a role in the production. Coogler previously revealed that he had written a character specifically for the Oscar winner.
