A nurse present on site, Rayza Dias, immediately tried to help the young woman.
She would have descended a very steep slope, covered in mud, by clinging to a rope, to reach it, according to information from the New York Post.
When she reached Maria, she was still conscious and alive, says the nurse.
The latter said she used to joke and tell people that no one dies during her service.
She repeated these words to the young Brazilian, who unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.
Before jumping, Maria posted a photo of the bridge on Instagram, accompanied by the message: “Who is the crazy person who let me jump off a bridge??? », a detail that shocked many, according to TMZ.
