It’s almost time: Toy Story 5 (2026) comes out in theaters this week! The release of the fifth part of the beloved Disney series is also causing a stir at Disney+, as all parts are currently in the Top 10 of the streaming service’s most viewed films.
Return of the toys
Toy Story returns to the big screen this week after seven years with the long-awaited fifth part. In Toy Story 5 we follow our favorite toy characters in a battle against the rise of technology. Toys have been losing ground to fun gadgets such as the tablet for years and this becomes painfully clear when Woody, Buzz and Jessie come face to face with their latest competitor Lilypad.
In the Top 10
It is clear that many viewers have been waiting for a long time Toy Story 5. This is especially evident from the current charts on Disney+. In the Netherlands, all four parts of the franchise are in the Top 10. The preview of the latest part is in second place, the first film is in 3, Toy Story 3 (2010) follows in fourth place and the second part is in 5th place on the list. Also Toy Story 4 (2019) can still be found in the Top 10 – it is in seventh place in the hit list.

At the cinema
Toy Story 5which again stars Tim Allen, Joan Cusack and Tom Hanks, is coming 17 June out in the cinema. Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the rest of the gang find their roles in question as they battle Lilypad, a brand new tablet device with its own disruptive ideas about what’s best for their child, Bonnie. Will playing ever be the same again?
