“However, it was in November, in sad and gray weather, without the roses that are the pride of Gerberoy,” remembers pianist Philippe Cassard. Recalling his amazed discovery of the town of Oise thirty years ago, he relives his “love at first sight” for its collegiate church with its exceptional acoustics. In the company of violinist Éric Slabiak – founder of the Yiddish and gypsy music group Les Yeux Noirs – residing in Gerberoy, Philippe Cassard then imagined a first musical meeting: from 1997 to 2003, Les Estivales de Gerberoy “combined classical and traditional repertoire from Romania, Spain, Tyrol or Latin America…”.
