
For more than fifty years, the inhabitants of Lahou-Kpanda have watched, helplessly, the gradual disappearance of their village, located 140 kilometers west of Abidjan, the economic capital of Côte d’Ivoire. Nibbled away by the waters and the westward movement of the mouth of the Bandama River, this bank of land located between the Tagba lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean is now saved. Started in June 2024, the work to stabilize the sand barrier and reopen the mouth in its original location constituted a real technical challenge.
