Two new complaints were filed on Friday June 12 for sexual violence against singer Patrick Bruel, 67, already indicted for rape and sexual assault, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office said on Saturday requested by AFP, confirming information from Mediapart.
One of them denounces an attempted rape and a sexual assault in October 2007, on the sidelines of the Reunion film festival, which the singer-actor sponsored at the time. The other mentions a rape and sexual assault in May 2012.
A “necessary passage”
According to Mediapart, the first complainant, named Amandine, is 45 years old and is a psychotherapist. She explains in the online media article that she met Patrick Bruel in 2000 and then several times between 2001 and 2003. Despite moments that she describes as “rewarding” linked to “privileged access, concerts, a play, restaurants”, “there was always an obligatory passage: her bed”.
She says she saw him again in 2007 in a café in Reunion where she lived and then went up to his room at his request. “I open the door, he is completely naked, he pushes me against the wall and tries to kiss me, I push him away, I leave,” she describes.
The second complainant, who denounced a rape and sexual assault in May 2012, did not wish to reveal the facts in more detail, according to Mediapart. Contacted by AFP, Me Jade Dousselin, their lawyer, confirmed the facts without detailing them.
Numerous testimonies
“We are, in reality, only at the beginning of this affair. These complaints will be added to the facts to which the singer will have to respond. Testimonies are pouring in in number and there is no doubt that we must expect rapid and significant developments in this matter likely to give rise to new indictments,” she commented.
Until then, the singer and actor was the target of eight complaints from women for sexual violence. He was indicted on Wednesday June 10 for four cases after 48 hours in police custody, and placed under the status of assisted witness in four other cases. He was placed under judicial supervision, escaping the pre-trial detention required by the Nanterre public prosecutor’s office.
In addition to these eight procedures, the public prosecutor indicated on June 10 that the Nanterre public prosecutor’s office was also processing 13 complaints for facts which “appear to be covered by the statute of limitations at this stage”.
On Wednesday, one of his counsel, Me Fanny Colin, indicated that Patrick Bruel would “naturally participate in all acts of the investigation” and that he would remain “at the disposal of the judicial authorities”. The artist, who denies all the accusations, had previously announced the cancellation of most of his next tour, in any case the concerts organized by his own production company. Several others remain scheduled, in partnership with regional producers, in Chartres, Laval, Nantes, Tours, Trélazé or Brest in October and November 2026.
