
In the new introduction to this book initially published in 2021, Marion Dapsance returns to the unexpected success of the film Sacred Heart: His Reign Has No End by Sabrina and Steven Gunnell, released in theaters in October 2025. Some wanted to see it as the manifestation of a rise in power of a Catholicism of traditional sensibility, or even of an ideological regression, the Sacred Heart being quickly associated with royalism, with patriotism anti-revolutionary and the Vichy regime. In short, devotion to the Sacred Heart would only be a “relic of the past”.
