They are pregnant and don’t know it. They discover it during pregnancy or sometimes even on the day of delivery. Denial of pregnancy is a disorder of psychological gestation. “The woman is not aware of being pregnant and when there is no psychological pregnancy, there cannot be a physical pregnancy,” explains Professor Israel Nisand, obstetrician-gynecologist, leading specialist on the subject and co-author of the book They give birth and are not pregnant (Les Liens qui Libération, 2011).
