
The “Tutankhamun of the East”. This is the nickname given by the press in the 1920s to the king whose gold and jade crown sparkles in the subdued light of the “Silla” exhibition. Dating from the 5th century, this spectacular ornament in the shape of tree branches or deer antlers, symbol of the link between the sovereign and the forces of nature, is the first of six headdresses of this type found in Korea.
