The Devil Wears Prada 2 (2026) continues to rake in huge sums worldwide. The long-awaited sequel has now grossed more than $600 million, making it one of the biggest box office hits of the year. The film has proven to be extremely popular, especially outside North America. Of the total revenue, more than $408 million comes from international cinemas.
Risk well out of the way
With a gross of $600 million, the film, with a budget of $100 million, was more than worth it for the makers and the studio. A large part of the budget was invested in the return of the three major protagonists. Meryl Streep in particular was essential to even think about a second film. Unfortunately, the actress was not easy to convince. Streep is known for not being in favor of sequels. It took years before she could be convinced to reprise the role of Miranda Priestly.
A nice pocket money
According to insiders, Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt would have received $12.5 million for The Devil Wears Prada 2. This amount is said to be due to a so-called favored nations deal, a deal that means that stars must be treated equally financially during the negotiations. In addition to this salary, the actors would also receive bonuses after the film reaches a certain milestone. It is not known whether that milestone has been passed and the additional payments have now been made. Sources claim that the actresses’ final salaries could exceed $20 million.
