The Witness follows Alex and André Hanscombe after the brutal murder of their mother and partner Rachel Nickell in 1992. As a newly single father, André put his own grief aside for his traumatized son, who was also the only eyewitness. Amid a desperate police investigation and relentless media attention, André fought for Alex’s well-being. This is the moving story of a father and son who together endured the aftermath of an unimaginable tragedy, moving from darkness to light.
Leading roles
The leading roles of The Witness are played by Jordan Bolger (This Town (2024)), who takes on the role of father André, and by Max Fincham (Old Joy (2006)), whom we see as the young son. The cast of the British series is completed by Neil Maskell, Wendy-Anne Daloz and Oliver Devoti, among others.
