Chrystel Estela, coordinator of the Collectif les Morts de la Rue, recalls the importance of this long-standing collaboration:
“The publication of the list of street deaths in La Croix has been an important national relay for 20 years, many readers learn about the reality of street deaths through reading the newspaper. We thank the newspaper for having maintained this support for so long, all the more necessary as we learn of more and more deaths throughout France. »
For La Croix, publishing the complete list of hundreds of “street deaths” recorded by the Collective thanks to reports from associations, social workers, relatives or citizens is essential to make visible those whose deaths too often remain ignored. By showing the names, the journeys and the reality of street deaths throughout France, the media contributes to raising public awareness of this social emergency and contributes to bringing the question of the great exclusion and dignity of homeless people into public debate.
The annual tribute to the dead in the streets is held on Tuesday June 2, 2026 at Césure – Plateau Urbain (Paris 5th).
