Pauline Booh wouldn’t miss a Sunday mass for anything in the world. Even far from home. Because of the fires, she had to leave her home, in Saint-Médard-en-Jalles (Gironde), on the night of Friday July 24 to Saturday July 25 “in very difficult conditions”. She has since been briefly hosted by her daughter in Bordeaux. Sunday July 26, she pushed open the doors of the Saint-André cathedral in Bordeaux, which she found “superb”, although, looking for a little comfort, she regretted “the somewhat sad absence of flowers”. “Being here reassures me, in my faith, my confidence and my hope,” breathes the victim.
