FilmVandaag highlights the best film on television every day to make choosing from the many options a little easier. This week is also full of many good films. The favorites of the coming days? Dune: Part Two (2024) in Fargo (1996)!

Featured films on TV (week 23)

This week full of strong films starts on Paramount Network with the biographical drama Hidden Figures (2016). Theodore Melfi’s landmark film, starring Octavia Spencer and Taraji P. Henson, tells the story of three brilliant women of African-American descent and their impressive achievements at NASA.

On Tuesday you watch Dune: Part Two (2024). To warm up for Dune: Part Three, which will be released in theaters at the end of this year, you can visit the television channel Veronica this week. In the sequel to Dune, the legendary journey of Paul Atreides (played by Timothée Chalamet) continues in the company of Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremen.

Wednesday it’s time for an iconic film from 2000: the true story Erin Brockovich (2000). Steven Soderbergh’s biopic is about a divorced mother (played by Julia Roberts) with three children who does everything she can to support her family. That won’t happen without a fight. When she loses a court case, she forces her lawyer to give her a job. Although she is not taken seriously at first, against all odds she ends up on the trail of a pollution case.

For the second time this week, watch Zendaya on Thursday. This time in the acclaimed sports drama Challengers (2024) on SBS9! Luca Guadagnino’s idiosyncratic film focuses on the talented tennis star Tashi Duncan. She ends up in a fiery and complex love triangle with successful tennis players Patrick and Art. Who ultimately pays the highest price for profits?

Challengers (2024)IMDb 7.0

Tashi Duncan is a former talented tennis player turned coach. Tashi is a strong woman who holds her own both on and off the tennis court and is married to a tennis champion who is going through a somewhat bad period.

On Friday you can watch the breathtaking animated film on STAR Channel WALL·E (2008). The Disney Pixar classic travels to the year 2815 and shows what happened to planet Earth after humanity had to leave their home due to overpollution. The only one left now is the robot WALL-E, who tries day after day to keep this planet clean. His lonely existence comes to an end when he meets the search robot EVE.

Another Disney Pixar on this list? Sure, because too Soul (2020) should certainly not be forgotten. Pete Docter’s animated film airs Saturday on STAR Channel. The work tells the story of music teacher Joe Gardner. He gets the chance of a lifetime, until he suddenly finds himself in the so-called ‘Beforeworld’. Desperate to return to his life, Joe decides to team up with the youthful soul 22.

The week ends well on SBS9 with an acclaimed thriller by the Coen Brothers. In Fargo (1996), starring William H. Macy and Frances McDormand, has a financially desperate car salesman orchestrating the kidnapping of his own wife to extort a ransom from his wealthy father-in-law. However, that plan goes completely out of hand…
