Fabienne Charpentier was preparing her hotel to welcome people displaced by the fires, Friday July 25, 2026, when she received the alert: Andernos-les-Bains had to be evacuated in turn. In a few hours, she and her six employees, all residents of this seaside resort in Gironde, northeast of the Arcachon basin, had to leave the area and in turn swell the ranks of the displaced. Some, like her, found refuge in Bordeaux; others had to go to Brittany or Paris to join relatives.
