Just a few months ago, Netflix officially gave it the green light Extraction 3 and filming will start soon. The news was announced via Instagram by leading actor Chris Hemsworth. The actor said that he is still enjoying his holiday in Costa Rica, but will then focus on filming the third part of the franchise.

Although Hemsworth is still enjoying his holiday for the time being, he appears to have to stick to a strict training schedule to prepare for his return as mercenary Tyler Rake. This confirms that filming will indeed start shortly. The Extraction series, consisting of Extraction (2020), Extraction 2 (2023) and soon Extraction 3is one of Netflix’s biggest action successes. The first film was released during the pandemic and broke records at the time as the biggest movie premiere ever on the streaming service. A sequel was announced almost immediately, but production was significantly delayed due to the ongoing pandemic.
Grote franchise in wording
Extraction 3 was made after the success of Extraction 2 announced at the 2023 Tudum event. Since then, we’ve been getting the occasional update from Hemsworth. Director Sam Hargrave returns once again, as do actors Golshifteh Farahani, Olga Kurylenko and Idris Elba. Netflix is confident when it comes to the franchise. Except Extraction 3 there is also a spin-off on the way, Tygo in series Mercenary.
