Do you want The Odyssey (2026) the way Christopher Nolan made it? Then you can go to Brussels. It is one of the few places in Europe where you can watch the film in IMAX 70mm. And as a result, Dutch people are flocking to Belgium.
Cinemas with IMAX 70mm
Christopher Nolan writes film history with The Odyssey. The director is the very first to shoot a film entirely on IMAX 70mm cameras. Unfortunately, there is no cinema screen in the Netherlands large enough to show this format. We have 70mm screens, we have IMAX screens, but IMAX 70mm is a rare form that can only be shown in four cinemas in Europe. You can only go to 41 places worldwide.

After the fall of Troy, Odysseus, king of Ithaca, begins a long and dangerous journey back home. During this journey he and his crew are confronted with various creatures such as the sirens, the cyclops Polyphemos and Circe, the daughter of the sun god.
Southern neighbors
So Nolan filmed an epic work on these special film reels but only a select group can The Odyssey but see it as the director intended. As Dutch people we can enjoy an IMAX 70mm screen, but for that we have to go all the way to our southern neighbors. And it is noticeably busy there now.

Many Dutch cinemagoers go to Brussels in Belgium especially for the analogue version of The Odyssey in IMAX 70mm. However, Kinepolis, the cinema where this screen is located, has announced that finding a ticket will only become more difficult. The cinema sells tickets until the end of August and most places are already completely full. Kinepolis Brussels shows The Odyssey at three times a day and can therefore receive 1200 visitors per day for this film.
Travel back to Ithaca
After the fall of Troy, Odysseus begins a dangerous journey back to Ithaca. As he and his crew battle monsters such as the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens and the sorceress Circe, his kingdom is on the verge of collapse. At home, his wife Penelope tries to fend off a horde of pushy suitors, while their son Telemachus begins a desperate search for his father.
Star cast
In the leading roles of The Odyssey we see Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. Other cast members include Jon Bernthal, Charlize Theron, Mia Goth, Elliot Page, Benny Safdie and Himesh Patel. The stars can count on positive reactions from film journalists.
