The crime series did not come out of the blue, because the scenario is a spin-off of the one shown on Videoland Unresolved (2024– ). In that series, Georgina Verbaan plays a professor who delves into so-called ‘cold cases’. This spring it was confirmed that the Streamzseries is getting a season 2.

One of the actors who will be seen in that sequel is Jelle de Beule (It just is (2011), The Best of Dorien B (2019)), and this immediately creates a link with Cold. De Beule will play the professor of forensic psychology who investigates cold case files with his students. When they come across something and things suddenly become a lot more serious, they are forced to work together with a detective: the role that Drijver will take on.

Thomas Korthals Altes and André van Duren are the directors of the spin-off, and the same creative team is responsible for the episodes. Unresolved already accounted for. A release date for the series on SkyShowtime has not yet been announced. However, the recordings are currently underway and it is certain that Cold will be released sometime next year.
