Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu will refer the matter to the Constitutional Council after the expected adoption by the National Assembly on Wednesday of a text creating a “right to assisted dying”, his services announced on Tuesday July 14.
“In-depth debates took place in the National Assembly on this proposal, however, the debate in the Senate did not allow such an in-depth examination, to allow us to arrive at a text of law responding as much to the aspirations of its defenders as to the concerns of those who are worried about its implementation”, indicates Matignon in a press release.
