Prime Video releases the first images of Carriethe new TV adaptation of Stephen King’s iconic novel. The eight-part series is being developed by horror director Mike Flanagan, who has made waves in recent years with several successful horror series such as The Haunting of Hill House (2018) in The Fall of the House of Usher (2023).
A modern reinterpretation
This new version features Carrie White, played by Summer Howell (Hunter Hunter (2020)) takes center stage, a misfit who grew up isolated all her life under the strict wings of her overprotective mother Margaret, played by Samantha Sloyan (The Haunting of Hill House (2018)). After the unexpected death of her father, Carrie ends up at a public high school, where she faces bullying, the harsh reality of social media, and the first signs of mysterious telekinetic powers. According to Amazon, the series is a contemporary reinterpretation of King’s classic story.

In recent years, Flanagan has become one of the best-known names in the horror genre thanks to series such as The Haunting of Hill House (2018), Midnight Mass (2021) in The Fall of the House of Usher (2023) He also previously adapted King’s books into films Gerald’s Game (2017) in Doctor Sleep (2019), the sequel to The Shining (1980).
Multiple film adaptations
Carrie, King’s debut novel from 1974, became a worldwide bestseller and has since been adapted into films several times.
